ABOUT OUR SESSIONS
Each session lasts 2 hours (including breaks). In all sessions, we promote safe and responsible riding, as well as an awareness of different signs that young riders may come across on trails. The age ranges we state are a guide, but will be informed by your child's experience and confidence on a bike.

OUR LOCATIONS
Woodrow High House – Trail Academy
Our purpose-built coaching venue, offers a safe and exciting environment with mountain bike features designed to build skills, confidence and control. Ideal for developing technique in a structured setting.
Westwood Park Little Chalfont – Woodland Adventures
A fantastic woodland location with a network of bridleways and forest trails. Perfect for riders ready to explore off-road, develop trail skills and enjoy the adventure of riding in nature.
Chesham Bois Common – Woodland Adventures
A beautiful area of ancient woodland and open common, providing varied natural trails that help riders progress their confidence, balance and bike handling while exploring the outdoors.
All of our venues are carefully selected to provide fun, safe and engaging riding experiences, with every session led by qualified MIAS coaches in small groups.

TRAIL EXPLORERS
Sessions for younger riders starting out
6 - 8 years old
Our Trail Explorer sessions focus on building the foundational skills and techniques of safe mountain biking in a fun, supportive environment. Riders develop balance, braking, cornering and bike control while growing confidence on their bikes.
These sessions are ideal for little Mudders aged 6 - 8.
Trail Explorer sessions take place at various different locations.

TRAIL SHREDDERS
Sessions for confident young riders
8 - 10 years old
Trail Shredder sessions are designed for riders ready to take the next step. Coaching places greater emphasis on stamina, flow and advanced techniques, helping riders tackle longer and more challenging routes with confidence and control.
These sessions are recommended for stronger, more confident Mudders aged 8–10.

TRAIL SENDERS
For older, trail-ready riders
10 to 12 years old
Trail Sender sessions are for young, technically confident riders ready to push themselves further.
These sessions focus on completing longer, more technical trails while developing advanced skills including jumps, drops and bunny hops.
Trail Senders is designed to build confidence and independence on the bike as they move towards the next stage of their mountain biking journey.
These session outlines are a guide, and every rider is assessed individually based on their ability, confidence, and technique, so they can learn and progress at the right level.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Main thing is to be comfortable. Sports clothes are generally best and waterproofs depending on the weather conditions. We recommend trousers and long sleeves for extra protection.

Please remember your bike, helmet and gloves! Other than that, a small backpack with plenty to drink and a few snacks for the breaks.

As a minimum you require a helmet that fits well and a pair of gloves. We recommend knee and elbow guards if you have them.

To join the session, as a minimum you must be able to ride 10m unaided and come to a safe stop using your brakes (not feet!)

The group sessions start at £38 per person.

We coach from the age of 6 years. This is a great time to develop skills and safe riding on a bike

Most mountain or hybrid bikes are suitable but road bikes with drop bars and thin tyres would not be safe. Please contact if you have any questions

Alex Woods founded Muddy MTB in 2023 and is a MIAS level 2 qualified Mountain Bike coach. Alex lives in Amersham with his wife and two boys who also love mountain biking!

They range but generally it’s two hours per session.

No, you can drop off and then pick up your child at the end, but happy if you want to stay and watch at the Woodrow location

Woodrow High House (HP7 0QG) on a purpose-built track is our main base, but we utilise other local areas in the Chilterns including Westwood park in little Chalfont and Chesham Bois Common

We keep a close eye on weather conditions. While mountain biking generally involves getting wet and muddy if it is unsafe to run the session, we offer a refund or a slot on another day.
